1. Remove/Disable Unnecessary services
You can disable unrequired running services by following the steps given below:
Press the keys Win+R simultaneously to open the RUN Window.
Now, enter “msconfig”in the Run Window and Press enter.
System Configuration Window gets opened. Locate “Services tab” and click the check box of the “Hide all Microsoft services”.
Here, uncheck all the other services that you do not require.
2. Manage Your Startup Programs
Fast Startup feature in Windows 8 helps the computer boot up quickly after a complete shutdown. This must always be “Enabled”.
Windows startup “Manage Utility” has now been moved from “msconfig” Window to Task Manager.
Open the RUN Window as before and enter “taskmgr” and press enter to open the Task manager.
In Task Manager, locate the “More Details” at left down corner and click it to get the start-up.
Click the app, you require and disable others.
3. Turn Off Visual Effects
You can turn specific Windows visual effects on or off to improve the performance.To provide 3D effect, you can display shadows under menus. Also, you can also display folders with watermarks, and icon size can be increased.

Click Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings
In the window that open click on Settings in the Performance option.

6. Turn Off Search Indexing
The user may not understand it but continuing search indexing can reduce the computer performance. Windows index service automatically monitor all your files and indexes all your files for easy searching. This background service increases the CPU load and it may reduce your system performance. You can stop this service to speedup Windows 8, however, search process may get slowed down.
Click Start > Enter “services.msc” in Run command prompt and press Enter. Locate for Windows Search, right-click on it and select Properties.
In another window that prompts, change the Startup type to “Disabled”
7. Close unnecessary Processes which are consuming more memory:
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to get a list of the processes in Windows Task Manager. Now, sort by “memory” tab to analyze the process which is consuming the most memory. If that process is unnecessary then end it.
